3-Day South Coast & Golden Circle Adventure

Are you ready to try the longest, fastest zipline in Iceland? You&#8217;ll soar over the stunning Svartagljúfur gorge, with its numerous waterfalls and spectacular views — a natural gem to experience from a breathtaking vantage point.
The “Free as a Bird” Mega Zipline starts atop the Kambar plateau overlooking Hveragerði and leading down to a cafe near the trailhead to the Reykjadalur hot spring valley. Two lines, each 1 km long, run parallel to each other, giving people travelling together a chance to take flight simultaneously.
Your adventure begins at Mega Zipline’s reception area by the Reykjadalur trailhead. There, Mega Zipline staff will walk you through safety precautions and outfit you with the appropriate equipment.
A vehicle takes you to Svartagljúfur canyon, and you will walk about 10 – 15 minutes to the Kambar flight tower. The walk is approximately 600 metres (1,969 feet) with an elevation gain of approximately 70 metres (230 feet). During this walk, you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the canyon. At the fall tower, you will be met by Mega Zipline pilots and briefed again on the safe use of the Zipline. You’re then sent down the Zipline for the flight of your life.
Automatic cameras positioned along the line will snap pictures of the experience. When the flight is over, you’ll return to the reception area (less than 2 minutes’ walk) to drop off your gear, view the photographs, peruse the gift shop, and wish you could go on the Zipline again and again.

Mega Zipline captures the highlight moments of your ride with a network of smart, sensor-activated cameras placed around the line. Icelanders drive around Iceland in winter, and your clients can, too! But your clients should be aware of the road conditions and unpredictable weather during Iceland’s winter wonderland season. They should be comfortable with driving in snowy, windy, and icy conditions. Iceland Travel has implemented steps to ensure the safety of your client, and we will keep them updated on any weather changes that might affect their itinerary along their route. We will cover any cost for hotels that need to be changed or cancelled if roads must close due to bad weather. We’ll watch over your clients, and they can always reach us via the 24-hour emergency line.

Scenic Reykjavík Routes Self-Drive

Take an exciting journey to the breathtaking South Coast. Immerse yourself in the beauty of magnificent waterfalls, stroll along stunning black sand beaches, and if you’re visiting during the summer months, keep an eye out for charming puffins (puffins are generally in Iceland between mid-May and mid-August).
Your first visit is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which tumbles into a plunge pool with an enormous cave hiding behind the waters. There’s an exciting path that you can walk behind the waterfall to see it from the other side!
Hidden within a narrow canyon, Gljúfrabúi is a mesmerising waterfall that offers a magical and secluded experience. To reach this hidden gem, you&#8217;ll need to venture through a narrow opening in the rocks, where you&#8217;ll be greeted by the sight of the waterfall cascading down from above.
The next stop is Skógafoss, an incredible waterfall. It’s a thrilling sight, and you may be lucky enough to see rainbows here. Skógafoss means “Forest Falls”, but there aren’t many trees now! There are 460 steps to the top of the falls – will you climb up and take a look from there?
Next, you’ll make short visit to Sólheimajökull glacier. From the viewing point you can soak in the view of magnificent glacier and the small lagoon forming in front of it.
Dyrhólaey is a promontory known for its dramatic cliffs and stunning panoramic views. Its unique rock arch stands tall against the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. From the top, you can admire the breathtaking vistas of black sand beaches, towering cliffs, and the vast expanse of the ocean.
Your next destination is the awe-inspiring black sand beach of Reynisfjara. You’ll be amazed by the powerful Atlantic waves crashing against the cliffs. Vík is the final stop on your South Coast adventure. It’s a pretty little village with a fairytale feel. Visit its lovely hilltop church, the perfect spot for panoramic pictures of the Reynisdrangar.

South Coast Adventure: Waterfalls, Glacier & Black Beach

Explore the home of the Icelandic Sagas, see stunning waterfalls, and relax in the soothing waters of the Húsafell Canyon Baths.
Start with a scenic drive past Mount Esja and then through the tunnel deep under Hvalfjörður to West Iceland. Drive deep inland towards Glanni. This picturesque waterfall cascades down multiple tiers across ancient lava fields. You&#8217;ll also have a breathtaking view of the three Grábrók volcanic craters.
Next is Deildartunguhver, renowned as the most powerful hot springs in Europe. Just a short distance away is Snorralaug, a hot spring pool that has been frequented by locals since the 12th century. Today, the pool is a protected archaeological site.  While you&#8217;re here, be sure to capture some photos of the beautiful old timber church, which dates back to the 19th century. Take a peek inside and you&#8217;ll even spot a viewing glass that provides a glimpse into a medieval smithy cistern.
Next, you will see the great Hraunfossar, a stunning series of waterfalls formed by several rivers running across the Hallmundarhraun lava field, created a thousand years ago by a volcano erupting under the nearby Langjökull glacier.
Stop in Húsafell, a magical place of woodlands and waterfalls set between the two glaciers. Here, you&#8217;ll be transferred to a special 4WD vehicle for a unique journey along rugged mountain passages. Stop to see Langifoss, a spectacular two-tiered waterfall that plunges through a steep ravine into the depths of Deildargil canyon.
The highlight of your tour comes next – an authentic Icelandic hot pool experience in the splendid setting of Hringsgil canyon. Enjoy a serene soak in a hot spring with the enchanting landscapes all around you. This spellbinding place has three geothermally heated pools of varying temperatures (30-41°C or 86-105°F), a cold-water pot and a cooling waterfall, all blending seamlessly into the natural environment.

Silver Circle: West Iceland with Canyon Ride & Secluded Thermal Baths

Join us for the Golden Circle Tour, where you’ll witness waterfalls, geyser eruptions, walk along a volcanic crater, and see the gap between the Eurasian and American plates at Þingvellir National Park. Enjoy a stop at a geothermal bakery in a unique geothermal park.
Your first stop is the captivating geothermal springs and geothermal park in Hveragerði. Visit Eilífur, the newest geyser in Iceland, which began erupting in 2016 and impressively erupts every 15-20 minutes. Enjoy “hverabrauð,” a sweet geothermal bread freshly baked in the on-site bakery. Inside the greenhouse, see experimental banana plants thriving so close to the Arctic Circle.
Head to Kerið crater. Kerið’s striking red earth and vibrant green moss create a captivating contrast, complemented by a turquoise-blue mineral water lake at its base.
Next, visit the awe-inspiring Gullfoss, one of Iceland&#8217;s most beloved natural wonders, featuring a double drop where the water plunges into a narrow ravine, creating a stunning spray.
Nearby is the Geysir geothermal area. Strokkur, an impressive geyser, displays its power with reliable eruptions every few minutes, soaring up higher and more powerful than Eilífur. You’ll also see bubbling hotpots and superheated streams, leaving behind vivid, multi-coloured residues.
Your final stop will be Þingvellir National Park. Here, you&#8217;ll be mesmerized by the vast gap between the Eurasian and American continental plates. Beyond its geological wonders, Þingvellir holds immense cultural and historical significance for Iceland. It was at this site that the Vikings established the world&#8217;s oldest surviving Parliament in 930 AD.

Golden Circle Geothermal Wonderland:  Two Geysers and Geothermal Bakery

Explore the incredible and stunning ice world of the Sólheimajökull Glacier on a ravishing glacier walking tour right off Iceland&#8217;s beautiful South Coast. It is a hiking adventure you&#8217;ll never forget.
Glacier Experience is a small group experience that offers an easy glacier hike on Sólheimajökull glacier with an experienced glacier guide and is available all year around. Add even more adventure to your stay in Iceland and come explore this amazing crawling glacier with us. Sólheimajökull glacier is an outlet from the mighty Mýrdalsjökull and is surrounded by some of Iceland&#8217;s grandest volcanoes. A glacier lagoon forms in front of the glacier during summertime, only adding to the location&#8217;s charm.
Your Glacier Experience tour starts with an introduction to the necessary glacier equipment provided in the tour and your expert guide going over the safety rules to explore the beautiful Sólheimajökull glacier. You will then take a short but scenic walk across the pitch-black volcanic ash and sands that lay in between the Sólheimajökull glacier and the parking lot.
The ash and sand are from the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull stratovolcano that took place in the year 2010 and is a reminder of the closeness of volcanoes and glaciers in Iceland. Truly a fantastic and unique start! At the foot of the glacier you will lace up our crampons and follow your guide to explore this otherworldly natural wonder; a rugged, raw and ever-changing hub of ancient frozen water.
You will see how the primal elements shape and affect the glacier, creating mesmerising labyrinths of ice ridges and deep V-shaped crevasses that crisscross and scar the surface of the ice. Not to mention the big sinkholes, called “moulins”, that sometimes have drilled their way through the glacier, draining the meltwater of the ice through little waterfalls and streams.
This popular day tour is the perfect way to know the actual reason behind the name Ice-land!
Note: The hiking part of the tour is about 2 hours, with 1-1.5 hours spent on the glistening glacier.

Glacier Experience – Sólheimajökull Easy Glacier Hike

Snæfellsnes is known as a miniature version of Iceland. In a relatively small area, you can see lava fields, mountains, small towns, a glacier, sea cliffs, lava caves, black sand beaches and more.
Departing from Reykjavik, your first stop is at the Berserkjahraun Lava Fields, where jagged formations from ancient volcanic eruptions create an otherworldly atmosphere steeped in legend. Then, marvel at the iconic Mt. Kirkjufell and its nearby Kirkjufellsfoss waterfalls, capturing picture-perfect views of Iceland’s most photographed mountain.
The hauntingly beautiful Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach, lined with smooth pebbles and scattered shipwreck remains, offers a poignant reminder of the country’s maritime past. But your clients should be aware of the road conditions and unpredictable weather during Iceland’s winter wonderland season. They should be comfortable with driving in snowy, windy, and icy conditions. Iceland Travel has implemented steps to ensure the safety of your client, and we will keep them updated on any weather changes that might affect their itinerary along their route. We will cover any cost for hotels that need to be changed or cancelled if roads must close due to bad weather. Discover the Edge of the Arctic

This trip brings you to Iceland at the ideal time to discover the nation’s birdlife at its best, with a focus on the south and west coasts.  Enjoy opportunities to spot birds, along with visits to Iceland’s beloved natural wonders.
The majority (about two-thirds) of Iceland’s birds are seabirds and various species of wetland birds. Almost 80 bird species breed regularly in Iceland. Many of these birds only spend a few months in the country each year; others are permanent residents. In total around 30 species have been added to Iceland’s bird population during the last century. The vast majority of the species breed in neighbouring European countries, or around the Arctic region. Three species have entered Iceland from North America:  the Great Northern Diver (Common Loon), the Barrow’s Goldeneye, and the Harlequin Duck. Iceland is their only breeding location in Europe. Several migratory species stop-over in Iceland on their way between their breeding grounds north of the Arctic Circle and their wintering grounds further south on the planet.  These species include the Knot, sanderling, Turnstone, Brent Goose, White-fronted Goose, and Barnacle Goose. A total of around 380 species have been observed at least once in Iceland, most of them being migratory.

Your adventure starts in Vík village, where you will meet your expert glacier hiking guide and board a SuperJeep. You’ll head into what seems like a rugged no man’s land. Enchanting glaciers and mountains surround you.
Your SuperJeep stops near the otherworldly Kötlujökull glacier. It’s time to put on your crampons and helmet and take a short walk to the opening of the ice cave. Depending on conditions, you might need to climb a few steps on ladders to the ice cave entrance. The climb is not difficult for anyone in reasonable physical shape.
Beautiful layers of different coloured ice and volcanic ash unfold from the ice, painting impressive stripes in the glacier. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the glacier, the ice cave and the area.
When you are back out from the glacier, your group will walk around and see if any smaller ice caves are accessible. The drive back to Vík is an amazing one. During wintertime, the sun sets behind the mountains, creating a magical wintery view.

Hvammsvík Hot Springs sit right on the Atlantic Ocean, with water levels and temperatures of the natural pools fluctuating with the tides. Temperatures range from ocean temperatures (around 10°C/50°F) to 42°C/108°F.
When you visit Hvammsvík Hot Springs, you will feel both relaxed and invigorated. We promise you a unique experience in eight natural hot springs situated along the shoreline and merging with the ocean.
Area locals built Hvammsvík Hot Springs using rocks from the surroundings, in harmony with the nature and wildlife. An original barrack foundations built by Allied troops during World War II now houses the facilities.

Hvammsvík Hot Springs

Immerse yourself in the clearest water in the world and float between two continents in Iceland! A snorkelling adventure in the famous Silfra fissure is an unforgettable experience!
Snorkel where the astonishingly clear water reveals a mesmerizing underwater world full of colours you don’t see above the surface. Silfra is a fissure created by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. A natural lava filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the world&#8217;s clearest bodies of water.
After you arrive at Silfra, your guide will give you your dry suit and snorkeling equipment and explain how to use it.
During your 30-40 minute snorkel you will explore Silfra&#8217;a four main areas. You will float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section, where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them. The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. Here the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become all the more apparent. At this point, if you look at just the right angle you can see all the way to Lake Þingvallavatn in the distance. Near to the opening to Þingvellir lake you will enter the deeper waters of Silfra Cathedral. where you’ll feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Your snorkel finishes in the endless visibility of Silfra Lagoon.
Make sure to drink some of the Silfra water while you are snorkeling! Who knows when you will be able to drink water so pure again?

Join our highly enthusiastic and experienced team in the search for whales, dolphins, and birds near Reykjavík.
Enjoy a magical journey into Faxaflói bay with our expert crew. Magnificent landscapes surround the area and add a unique contrast to the vast ocean.
You’ll search for whales under the excellent guidance of our marine biologist guides while learning about the incredible Icelandic wildlife. The bay is also full of birdlife that feed on the sea’s plentiful fish.
The most common whale species on our tours include minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbour porpoises. Occasionally we’ll see killer whales, fin whales, sei whales and long-finned pilot whales. One of our excellent naturalists will give a live commentary throughout the tour and notify you of any sightings as we go.
Start your tour with our Visitor Centre, located on board a converted fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. Stroll through our unique floating wildlife exhibition to learn more about the animals you might see. You’ll board the boat through the Visitor Centre.  You can stay outside in the fresh air but you are also welcome to settle inside the heated lounge and observe from within.
Our whale watching boat has  several outdoor viewing platforms, a heated indoor saloon with large viewing windows, a cafeteria where you can buy light refreshments, toilet facilities and a cloak room where you can borrow our blankets and overalls for the duration of the tour.

The Forest Lagoon (Skógarböð) is a geothermal spa located in Vaðlaskógur forest, just a few minutes&#8217; car drive from Akureyri. Icelanders call this beautiful town the &#8220;Capital of the North.&#8221;  It takes just 45 minutes to fly here from Reykjavík, or about a five-hour drive.  With views overlooking one of Iceland&#8217;s longest fjords, Eyjafjörður, the spa&#8217;s unique location surrounded by birch and pine trees truly sets it apart.
The Forest Lagoon’s 1.300 square-metre (13,993 sq ft) complex includes the Forest Bistro, two pools with two swim-up bars, a cold tub and a Finnish dry sauna. Next to the sauna is a cold pool, and it is wonderful to enjoy the health benefits that combining all these experiences can bring.  The cold pool temperature is 11°C (52°F).
The pools use all-natural geothermal water from the mountain behind the Vaðlaheiði forest. The hot spring water was discovered during a tunnel project. The spring was the inspiration for creating this beautiful forest retreat.
