Immerse yourself in the clearest water in the world and float between two continents in Iceland! A snorkelling adventure in the famous Silfra fissure is an unforgettable experience!
Snorkel where the astonishingly clear water reveals a mesmerizing underwater world full of colors you don’t see above the surface. Silfra is a fissure created by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. A natural lava filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the world&#8217;s clearest bodies of water.
After you arrive at Silfra, your guide will give you your dry suit and snorkeling equipment and explain how to use it.
During your 30-40 minute snorkel you will explore Silfra&#8217;a four main areas. You will float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section, where the continental plates are so close you can almost touch them. The fissure then widens into Silfra Hall. Here the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become all the more apparent. At this point, if you look at just the right angle you can see all the way to Lake Þingvallavatn in the distance. Near to the opening to Þingvellir lake you will enter the deeper waters of Silfra Cathedral. where you’ll feel like you are flying over the boulders and glacial silt. Your snorkel finishes in the endless visibility of Silfra Lagoon.
Make sure to drink some of the Silfra water while you are snorkeling! Who knows when you will be able to drink water so pure again?

Day Tours

A one-of-a-kind underground cave adventure! Explore the depths of a lava tube then go snorkelling in between the North American and Eurasion tectonic plates. Walk and then float over lava and swim between large volcanic canyons.
Spend the whole day beneath the surface with our expert guides! Prepare for an adventure deep into the beating heart of Iceland.
You’ll start by exploring a colorful lava tube cave close to Reykjavík. Head to Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest lava tube caves in Iceland. This adventure gives you great insight into the volcanic activities that have formed the country.
After you finish caving, you will have a chance to grab some lunch (not included) between the two activities.
Afterwards, your group will drive to Þingvellir National Park for an afternoon of snorkeling between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates. This is where Silfra fissure is found. Here you will get ready to explore the blue. Witness some of the clearest water on Earth as your guide leads you on an underwater journey.
